Buffalo VA Medical Center

VA Western New York Healthcare System (VAWNYHS), part of the VA Healthcare Network Upstate New York, consists of two health care facilities in Buffalo and Batavia, as well as seven community-based outpatient clinics.

The Buffalo VAMC opened in 1950 and provides comprehensive primary, secondary and tertiary inpatient care.

Primary Care
Veterans can receive primary care, wellness and preventive outpatient care at both the Buffalo and Batavia facilities as well as in the seven community-based outpatient clinics.

Specialized Services
Buffalo VAMC provides medical, surgical, mental health and longterm care services through a full range of inpatient and outpatient programs.

Cardiac & Cancer Center
It is the main referral center for cardiac surgery, cardiology and comprehensive cancer care for central and western New York and Northern Pennsylvania.

Research
VAWNYHS researchers have earned worldwide acclaim in developing the cardiac pacemaker. Recent breakthroughs in the study of tinnitus and progress toward a vaccine for childhood ear infections promise benefits to all mankind.
