Type of Facility:   The Atlanta VA Medical Center is a teaching hospital, providing a full range of patient care services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. Comprehensive health care is provided through primary care, tertiary care, and long-term care in the areas of medicine, surgery, mental health, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, geriatrics, and extended care. The medical center has 173 authorized inpatient beds and 100 authorized nursing home care beds. The services provided by the Nursing Home Care Unit include extended care rehabilitation, psycho-geriatric care, and general nursing home care. The facility also serves as prosthetics treatment center , fabricating and supplying mechanical devices such as artificial limbs for patients within the states of Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina.
