Health Administration Center (HAC)

The Health Administration Center's (HAC) primary mission is to efficiently administer health plans.
Health plans for family members include:

  • Civilian health and medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA)
  • CHAMPVA In-House Treatment Initiative (CITI)
  • CHAMPVA Meds by Mail program
  • Spina Bifida Health Care Program
  • Children of Women Vietnam Veterans Health Care Program
  • Persian Gulf Examination Program for Dependents

Programs for veterans include:

  • Foreign medical Program: providing payment for services to veterans for the treatment of service-connected disabilities while living or traveling abroad
  • Non-VA (Fee) care: providing service to veterans for the treatment of service-connected disabilities when care is not available at a VHA medical facility

The HAC provides leadership and management of program and initiatives to include:

  • VistA Fee Replacement system, designed to centralize claims processing and establish a centralized database
  • Delegated Examining Organization (DEO)
  • As VHA's Mail Manager, the HAC works in partnership with the Department and GSA in providing support to all VHA facilities
  • The HAC provides fiscal services, contracting support, limited information systems support, and HR support to over 200 VHA field staff
  • National recovery Audit
  • Graphic design support (including translating and publishing multi-lingual documents)

The HAC also spearheads a comprehensive communications mix for external customers, to include offering State Veterans Service Officer training, beneficiary briefings, and establishing contacts at national conventions.
