Appointed by the Secretary, The Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans (ACMV) was established under Public Law 103-446 § 510, November 2, 1994. The Committee consists of veterans who represent respective minority groups and are recognized authorities in fields pertinent to the needs of the minority group they embody. The Committee responsibilities include:

April 2013—ACMV Chair and Members arrive at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois to be briefed by the Director.
April 2013—ACMV Chair and Members receive briefing and a tour one of the mobile healthcare units for VA Hines Hospital.
April 2013—ACMV Chair and Members conduct a town hall in down town Chicago, Il to listen to Veterans and family issues.
April 2012—Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans host a Town Hall Meeting at the VFW during their site visit to San Antonio, TX.
April 2012—Deputy Director of the Center for Minority Veterans introduces the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Minority Veterans.
