Dr. Hoffman is a Core Investigator with CRIISP and an Assistant Professor of General Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and Associate Director of the K30 Iowa Scholars in Clinical Investigation Program. Dr. Hoffman was recently awarded a VA HSR&D Merit Review Entry Program Career Development Award, entitled “Improving Recognition and Management of Obesity in Primary Care”, that began in June of 2005. The project will identify patient and provider-level barriers to the prevention and treatment of obesity in veterans. This knowledge will then be used to develop effective strategies to overcome these barriers and improve weight-related counseling and services to veterans. Dr. Hoffman is also interested in the relationship between weight disorders, depression and other psychopathology, disability, and other medical comorbidities.
