A photo of the American FlagThis website provides information about clinical services and training at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center's Post Traumatic Stress Recovery Team (PTSR).    About one-third of combat veterans who seek care from VA have a possible diagnosis of a mental disorder, and VA has significantly expanded its counseling and mental health services. VA has developed world class expertise in treating chronic mental health problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The PTSR is a diverse outpatient treatment program for veterans suffering from trauma-related disorders and difficulties. It provides psychiatric care, case management, individual psychotherapy, and supportive, process, and educational groups to male and female veterans who have been through military and civilian traumas.

As a multidisciplinary outpatient treatment team, the PTSR provides several levels of training to numerous disciplines including pscyhology, social work, medicine, and nursing .The PTSR provides high quality training experiences to psychology graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows (see the Psychology site  for information on intern and postdoctoral training in psychology at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center); nursing students; social work students; and medical students. Staff at the PTSR also develop and carry out research projects in the areas of trauma, resilience, and recovery.  You can find a list of recent staff publications on our Staff Page.
