VA Textile Care/Laundry News

The VA Asset Management Service located in Hillsborough, New Jersey, has expanded their Quality Assurance Textile Care/Laundry Program to include consultant services that encompass:   operation assessment and evaluation, energy consumption, equipment maintenance records, production potential, composition of specifications, technical reviews of bid proposals, and pre-warranty expiration inspections.

Inspection and Testing Service

  • Soil sorting system (physical inspection)
  • Mildata system (validate recording wash data and wash formulas are programmed correctly)
  • Production Washer/Extractors (proper operation and chemical formulas)
  • Carts (weigh carts to ensure that they are weighing properly)
  • Liquid supply system (proper operation)
  • Staph barrier wall (physical inspection)
  • Monorail system on the soil side (proper operation)
  • Monorail system on the clean side (proper operation)
  • Non-production washer/extractors (proper operation)
  • Non-production dryers (proper operation)
  • Production dryers (proper operation and drying formulas)
  • Flatwork-ironing system (proper operation)
  • Folding tables (proper operation)
  • Small piece folders (proper operation)
  • Garment finisher tunnel (proper operation)
  • Cart make-up shelving (ensure it meets the storage requirements)
  • Blow down devices (for air leaks and proper operation)
  • Central wet/dry vacuum system (proper operation and verify attachments are in good working condition)
  • Floor scales (proper operation)
  • Energy monitor system (proper operation and verify all utilities are being monitored)
  • Air compressors (proper operation)
  • Communication/intercom system (proper operation)
  • Textile care management system (proper operation)
  • Blanket folder (proper operation)
  • Garment exchange system (proper operation)
  • Lint Collectors (physical inspection)
  • Clean takeaway conveyors (physical inspection)
  • A written report which includes pictures, equipment listing

Pre-warranty Expiration Inspection Service

  • Testing and review of textile care processing equipment
  • A written report which includes pictures, equipment listing

Plant Assessment

  • Equipment evaluation
  • Production
  • Utility usage
  • Chemical usage
  • Evaluation of current maintenance and safety practices
  • Transportation (if applicable)
  • Determination of workload expansion capabilities and/or limitations
  • Evaluation of current operations for efficiencies
  • A written report which includes pictures, equipment listing

Fee for Services

Costs for services are determined after completing an analysis of associated costs to complete the work.   Work is performed by Certified Laundry Linen Manager Textile Care/Laundry Quality Assurance Specialists with over thirty years of experience.
