The Audiology service is dedicated to support the Department of Veterans Affairs and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System's mission.  This includes providing customer focused audiology services to eligible veterans which promote independence and quality of life, training of students and the support of clinically based research to promote the highest level of patient care, education that advocates for people with disabilities and achieving a work environment that fosters a collaborative effort.

We are committed to continuous quality improvement with regard to the delivery of services to patients with hearing impairments and their families.

We are a primary referral center for veterans with hearing disorders from throughout VISN 20.  Support is also provided to other VISN 20 Audiology services.  We provide comprehensive specialty care to veterans with hearing impairments.  Extensive support is provided to other health care system services within the center, particularly Otolaryngology, Neurology, and Spinal Cord Injury.

Academic affiliations are maintained with Audiology graduate programs that have been identified as providing high quality training.  A stimulating intellectual environment is maintained for staff and trainees to facilitate our mission.  Graduate students are challenged to deliver services using the latest technological instrumentation and efficacious techniques.  Interactions with professional peers in the local, national and international communities are encouraged.  Support for research regarding the nature and remediation of hearing disorders is demonstrated by encouraging staff to collaborate with other professionals from audiology and related professions and directing graduate students' studies.
