Maude Rittman, PhD, RN, is the Associate Chief of Nursing Services for Research with the North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System, and Research Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing. Her major responsibilities at the VA include directing the nursing research program; serving as investigator and coordinator of Research Focus 3; along with being the Assistant Director of the Career Development Program for HSR&D/RR&D, RORC. She is a qualitative researcher specializing in understanding the everyday lives of persons with stroke, their caregivers, and the experience of chronic illness. She earned her BSN, MN, and Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Florida. Her clinical experience has been in psychiatric nursing and the dynamics of nursing care. She has published several studies in these areas. She is currently conducting qualitative studies in understanding the everyday lives of persons with stroke, their caregivers, and the experience of chronic illness. She mentors pre and post-doctoral students, serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Aging Studies and is a reviewer for the journal of Psychosomatic Medicine and the Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development.
