Dawn M. Bravata, MD, conducts health services research in cerebrovascular disease. She is specifically interested in three areas within this larger domain: the quality of care received by patients with acute ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions for patients with stroke and TIA in routine clinical practice, and the identification and treatment of medical complications of stroke.
Dr. Bravata is the recipient of a VA Health Services Research & Development (HSR&D) Advanced Career Development Award and the Robert Wood Johnson Generalist Physician Faculty Scholars Program Award. She has received funding from the HSR&D Merit program for her current work entitled “The Quality Evaluation in Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack (QUEST) Project” which evaluates the quality of care received by patients hospitalized with a stroke or TIA. A Pilot grant from the VA Cooperative Studies Clinical Epidemiology Research Center is supporting the “Continuous Positive Airways Pressure in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Feasibility and Safety Pilot Project.”
Dr. Bravata will apply her expertise in the clinical setting for stroke patients to Goals 3 & 4 Teams.
