Debbie L. Wilson, PhD has a background in Pharmacy Health Care Administration and Linguistics. She has previous research experience focused in pharmacy practice and on decision-making and judgment. Her research interests focus on improving patient involvement in the patient-provider relationship, shared decision-making in the patient-pharmacist-physician triad, and the use of patient decision aids in medication therapy decision-making. Dr. Wilson has conducted qualitative and quantitative studies related to the exploration of professional judgment and pharmacy technicians, including the Perry A. Foote Small Grants Program in Health Outcomes and Pharmacoeconomics Research funded project titled “Professional Expertise and Pharmacy Technicians” on which she was PI. Three of her publications on pharmacy technicians have been republished; and, the Journal of Pharmacy Technology released free copies of her article "Review of Tech-Check-Tech" (Wilson, 2003) as one of five articles in “a collection of articles with historic significance to the technician profession” AAPT Newsletter; 26(3), 6. She is currently Co-PI on the VA Health Services Research & Development funded project titled “Improving Clinical Decision Making for Stroke Prevention” to assess the feasibility of using a patient decision aid in veterans.
