Welcome to the National Veterans Wheelchair Games Volunteer Registration
WELCOME: We
are pleased that
you are
considering
volunteering for
the National
Veterans
Wheelchair Games
this year! This
inspirational
annual event
relies on
volunteers to
make the week
successful for
the veterans
competing. A
wide range of
volunteer
opportunities
are available
during the week
of the Games,
including
helping with
meals,
transportation,
site set-up,
scoring, timing,
distributing
water, assisting
at the
hospitality
tables, and lots
of other
assignments. All
volunteers
receive a
complimentary
Games T-shirt as
well as the
personal
satisfaction
that comes with
supporting our
nation’s heroes.
YOUTH
VOLUNTEERS: Volunteering
at the National
Veterans
Wheelchair Games
is a great way
for area youth
to attain that
needed community
service
experience for
college
applications.
However, if you
are under the
age of 18,
you must have
written parental
or guardian
approval to
participate in
VA’s volunteer
programs, and
must also have
written
authorization
for diagnostic
and emergency
treatment if
injured while
volunteering.
To verify
permission, you
will need to
fill out the
paper form of
the volunteer
application, get
it signed and
then mail it
back to the
address
indicated on the
form.
CHANGING
ASSIGNMENTS: We
will do our very
best to place
you with the
assignment(s)
that you have
chosen. However,
please be aware
that we retain
the right to
re-assign you as
necessary to
best accommodate
the veterans and
assure that all
Games activities
are conducted in
a safe manner,
both for our
volunteers and
the athletes.
In order to
change your
application
after it has
been submitted
electronically
(or on a paper
copy) you must

Coordinator at
the VA Medical

THANK YOU! More
than 2,500
volunteers are
needed at the
2008 National
Veterans
Wheelchair
Games, assisting
in a variety of
events at
several
locations. The
number of
volunteers
needed to
support the
Games averages
at least two
volunteers per
veteran. The
minimal
commitment we
are asking from
our volunteers
is four hours.
The most
important thing
to remember is
to have fun at
this wonderful
event, and enjoy
your time with
our inspiring
athletes.
