Entertainment and celebrity visits by Ty Nelson, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Bo Derek, and many others.
Here’s just a few of what some of the 2005 participants had to say:
“Participating in the Winter Sports Clinic is an awesome experience,” said Lisa Bard, an accomplished wheelchair athlete and martial artist from Germantown, Md. “Last year I was really scared to get out there and ski. Even now, I’m still telling people how attending the Clinic was the best week of my life!”
“The Winter Sports Clinic is the greatest example I have ever seen of how the community comes out in force to support disabled veterans,” said John Clements, a Vietnam veteran from Dallas, Texas. “This event has permitted me to accomplish things I never thought I could. A disability is not the end of one’s life; it is simply a new way to live.”
“I look forward to this fabulous event every year,” said Wayne Ross, an Air Force veteran from Scituate, Mass. “I enjoy catching up with friends, exploring Aspen, the live entertainment, and meeting the celebrities. Skiing is the icing on the cake!”
“Participating in the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic provides me with a chance to live life on the edge like I always do,” said Jesse Rivera, an Army veteran from Santa Clarita, Calif.
