"Sharing Expertise to Achieve Common Goals"
What We Do
The Health IT Sharing (HITS) Program directly supports the VA mission and efforts to promote quality healthcare for our veterans and their eligible dependents. In particular, the HITS Program supports the Veterans Health Administration's (VHA) long range strategy, HealthePeople, which is aimed at working with other public and private sector agencies on a collaborative effort to improve the health of all citizens, including over 25 million veterans. The HealthePeople strategy is primarily focused on: Health IT standards; electronic health records (EHR); personal health records (PHR); and health information exchange (HIE) activities.
Health IT Sharing involves providing support to the HealthePeople program in the following areas:
- VA/DoD Health IT Sharing
- Federal Government Health IT Sharing
- State Government Health IT Sharing
- Native American Health IT Sharing
- Health Community IT Sharing (Non-Government Organizations)
- International Health IT Sharing
