Program Mission
The mission of the Audiology, Speech Pathology and Recreation Therapy Service is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based, responsive and patient accessible assessment, diagnosis and management of speech, voice, swallowing, language, hearing and vestibular functions relevant to communication, and cognitive, emotional, physical and social barriers relevant to participation in recreational and leisure activities.
Audiology Division
The staff of the Audiology Division consists of Audiologists and Hearing Health Technicians who provide services at the Miami Medical Center, Oakland Park Outpatient Clinic, Hallandale Community Based Outpatient Clinic and Pembroke Pines/Hollywood Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
Services Provided
The Audiology Division provides diagnostic and rehabilitative services including:
- Hearing Aids and Other Assistive Listening Devices
- Aural Rehabilitation
- Evoked Potentials/Otoacoustic Emissions
- Central Auditory Disorders
- Electronystagmography
- Diagnostic Audiology
Hours of Operation
For the convenience of veterans with hearing aids, there are walk-in clinics for unscheduled visits. Walk-in clinic locations and operating hours are:

Speech Pathology Division
The Speech Pathology Division consists of Speech-Language Pathologists who provide services at the Miami facility and the Oakland Park Outpatient Clinic.
Services Provided
Services Provided The Speech Pathology Division evaluates and treats a broad range of disorders including:
- Head and Neck Cancer surgery patients including laryngectomy and tracheoesophageal puncture
- Cognitive Communication Disorders
- Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders including aphasia, apraxia and dysarthria
- Swallowing Disorders including Videofluoroscopic Examination of Swallow Function
- Voice Disorders including Rigid Endoscopy and Videostroboscopy
