Program Mission
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS) faithfully and actively supports VISN 8 and VAMC Miami's mission by providing accurate, timely, and cost effective, full range laboratory services to our veterans, in a climate of education, continuous improvement, and research and development.
Service Overview
Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service of VAMC Miami and VAOPC Oakland Park includes the traditional departments and sections of both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology such as Autopsy Pathology, Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, Clinical Chemistry and Special Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, and Transfusion Medicine. There are also specialized laboratories that are devoted to molecular diagnostics (viral load testing), toxicology, flow cytometry and electron microscopy. The departments use the most modern and sophisticated techniques, and strive to maintain the highest quality of performance.
