Leadership and Staff
Audrey Nelson, Ph.D., RN, FAAN is the Center Director and has overall responsibility for operations, budget, resources, and leadership. Dr. Nelson is a nationally known researcher related to patient safety for persons with disabilities. Her expertise is in safe patient handling, wheelchair falls, wandering, and pressure ulcers.
Patricia Quigley, PhD, MPH, ARNP, CRRN is the Deputy Director. Dr. Quigley is a nurse practitioner in adult health, a clinical nurse specialist in rehabilitation, certified in rehabilitation nursing, and a funded nurse researchers. She has expertise in patient safety, program evaluation, rehabilitation, functional independence, fall and injurious fall prevention across settings, and epidemiology.
John Lloyd, PhD, MErgS, DPS, CPE is the Director of the Patient Safety Research Labs (Rehabilitation Engineering, Biomechanics Research, Patient Safety Simulation, Product Evaluation and Gait and Balance). Dr. Lloyd is an ergonomist whose reseach efforts focus on development and evaluation of safe patient handling technologies.
Gail Powell-Cope, PhD, ARNP, FAAN is the Associate Director for Education and Training. Dr. Powell-Cope is a nurse scientist with expertise in patient falls, bed-rail entrapments, and risk modeling.
Stephen Luther, PhD is the Associate Director for Psychometrics, Statistics, and Research Design. He is a psychometrician and quantitative health scientist with research interests in validation of risk assessment and patient safety measurement tools, as well as text mining.
