Exercise

Let's get started...
Exercise comes in many forms and with some effort you can accomplish your fitness goals.  Here you will find tips for success and links to identify a method that will fit into your lifestyle.  There are a variety of exercises to help you maintain your health and fitness.  Examples include:  building up your endurance, strengthening your muscles, improving your balance and stretching.

Exercise Type Benefit Exercise Examples
Endurance These exercises increase your ability to use oxygen. Walking, jogging, hiking, running, swimming, biking
Strength Improves your muscles' ability to do everyday tasks. Using weights such as dumbbells, or household items like cans of soup or gallons of milk.
Balance Improves your stability and decreases your risk for falls. Try standing on one foot without holding on for support. Yoga also improves balance.
Stretching Improving your flexibility will help you to move more freely. Stretch after exercise, or when convenient for you. Never stretch so far that it hurts.
