Geriatrics and Extended Care helps veterans and their families with the diagnosis, treatment and care for dementia. Dementia is a condition that affects the brain. Some signs include memory loss, problems in speaking, changes in personality or behavior. Speaking clearly might also become a problem.

Each Medical Center has a Dementia Case Manager to help veterans and their families receive the right medical attention and support they need. Early diagnosis allows patients and their families time to try treatment options. It also gives them time to connect with supports and make practical plans for the future.
