Research Focus
Dr. Nornoo's current focus is on the use of microemulsions as oral drug delivery systems. The overall objective of his project is to determine the potential advantage of microemulsions to enhance the oral absorption of low solubility and low permeability anticancer agents using the model compound paclitaxel (PAC). The premise is that microemulsions, because of their unique properties will provide drug solubilizing properties (in the oils, surfactants or non-aqueous solvents), systemic availability modulating properties (surfactants as well as oils according to literature) and absorption enhancing properties to orally administered PAC.
