The VA Clinical & Translational Research Center (CTRC) is a facility created to promote and support clinical research in the Buffalo Community and throughout VISN 2.
The Clinical & Translational Research Center is located on the 8th floor of the Western NY VA Healthcare System on Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, New York. It is a newly remodeled unit designed to support clinical research within the VA and the University at Buffalo community. It is intended to be used for both outpatient and inpatient-based clinical trials, for both veteran and non-veteran patients, as well as healthy volunteers.

Types of Research Projects
The CTRC facility is appropriate for any type of clinical research project requiring:
Access to inpatient facilities — overnight to extended stays
Access to a site for conduct of minimal to moderate risk procedures
Outpatient Studies — Well-equipped Exam Rooms

Facility Costs
The CTRC provides access to all laboratory and diagnostic facilities at the VA for the support of CTRC-based research. An itemized list of services and associated charges is available to facilitate protocol development and budgeting. The per day charge for use of the CTRC is reasonable.
Requirements
All Projects must be reviewed and approved by the VA IRB, scientific review committee and other applicable committees (e.g. Radiation Safety).
Non-VA Investigators must obtain a WOC appointment at the VA.
Non-VA Investigators must identify a VA coinvestigator to assume on-site responsibility for the conduct of the study.
Currently, research staff (e.g. nurses, coordinators, etc) are provided by the investigator. Please contact us for rates.
