Syracuse VA Medical Center

The Syracuse VA Medical Center and its eight community-based outpatient clinics serve veterans in 13 counties in Central New York.

Primary Care
The primary care program provides services at the medical center and at the eight community-based outpatient clinics.

Inpatient & Outpatient Services
The medical center provides acute medical and surgical services, acute mental health, rehabilitative medicine and intensive care. In addition, it has a 50-bed community living center unit that provides short-term transitional cares.

Specialized Medical Services
Some of the specialty services include emergency medicine, cardiology, hematology/oncology, women's health, geriatric medicine and behavioral health.

Research & Development
Researchers are investigating areas such as diabetes, motor control, drug dependence, schizophrenia, heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, infectious diseases, cancer and leukemia, bladder disease, ulcer disease, and telemedicine. The research and development service is affiliated with the Central New York Research Corporation (CNYRC).
