Mission
To assure that minority veterans receive benefits and services on par with other veterans, encounter no barriers or impediments in their attempts to access these services, are treated with respect and dignity by VA service providers; and act as a primary advisor to Network 2 on all matters related to program issues and initiatives for and affecting minority veterans.

Who We Are
The VISN 2 Minority Veterans Council is an Advisory Committee to the Network. The Council is comprised of representatives from local Minority Veterans Programs, Minority Veteran Coordinators, Equal Employment Opportunity Committee members and Special Emphasis Program Managers.

Strategic Plan
Expand representation of minority veterans for system advocacy and medical care needs.
Goals
  • Identify at least two needs that are unique to the minority veteran population within VISN 2.
  • Develop and implement a culturally-focused health education program for providers and minority veterans.
  • Develop a bilingual link to the Minority Veterans Council website for VISN 2.
  • Develop standardized data collection methods within VISN 2 to identify minority veterans.
