Our station’s Disabled American Veterans Volunteer Transportation Network (DAVVTN) is rated by DAV to be near the top for:

  • Number of patients brought in (24,000 veterans)

  • Number of miles driven (500,000 miles)

  • Number of hours donated (32,000 hours)

  • Over 100 volunteer drivers

  • A motor pool of 16 vans

  • Renovation of the Community Care Center’s front entryway was accomplished through donated funds and the collaborative energies of the staff and veterans of the Center. Using Planetree principles of patient focused care, the space was transformed from an institutional setting to an area that now focuses on the customer. The entryway showcases paintings and artwork of the veterans.

We continue to involve business and community entities in our program. This year, we worked with Syracuse University, Syracuse Behavioral Health, Onondaga Diversion to Community Service, and Jobs Plus among other stakeholders. These entities provided volunteers, monetary support and services in support of our mission.

Our volunteer recruitment goal this year was to increase baby boom aged volunteers (40 to 60 year olds) by 5%. We exceeded our goal by actually recruiting 12% more new baby boomers. Our facility continues with a relatively “flat” profile with ages spread through each generation. This profile helps us maintain a stable volunteer workforce.
