Improved Services
for Vision Impaired
More than a million visually
impaired veterans will receive
enhanced health care services under
a nationwide reorganization of VA’s
vision rehabilitation services. VA has
earmarked $40 million over the next
three years to enhance inpatient services
and expand outpatient services for
veterans and active duty personnel with
visual impairments ranging from 20/70
to total blindness.
Basic low-vision services will be
available at all VA eye clinics, and every
network will offer intermediate and
advanced low-vision services, including
a full spectrum of optical devices and
electronic visual aids.
Don’t Default on your
Repayment Plan
If you’re having trouble meeting your
monthly obligations for your current
debt with VA or are unable to send your
monthly payment, the Veteran Contact
Center (VCC) can assist you.
Unfortunately, if you fail to send in
three consecutive monthly payments without
notifying the VCC, your repayment
plan is considered in default and your
plan will be canceled. If your repayment
plan is canceled due to payment default,
you will not be eligible to renew your
repayment plan for a full year and your
account will be forwarded for debt collection.
Don’t let that happen to you! To
discuss your options or notify VCC of a
late payment, call 1-888-823-9656.
Full-Time Care Assistance
Available
Wartime veterans and surviving
spouses who have in-home care or
live in community living centers or assisted-living
facilities may qualify for the Aid and
Attendance pension benefit. To qualify,
claimants must be incapable of self-support
and in need of regular personal assistance.
For more information, call 1-800-827-
1000 or visit www.va.gov.
