Web Surfing Shortcuts |
Last month we covered keyboard shortcuts that work in all programs; this time here are some keyboard shortcuts specifically for Web browsing software like Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
Most of what needs to be done in a Web browser works fine with a mouse. But when your hands are off the mouse typing in Web addresses, reading long pages, or filling out Web forms, it's handy to know some keyboard tricks to help get you around faster. By holding down a modifier key (such as Ctrl) then pressing a letter key you can achieve the same effect as using your mouse to access a command from the menus.
These shortcuts are for navigating between multiple pages on the Web

Ctrl + N

New window. You can open multiple New windows to different addresses and let them all load while you're reading another page.
Ctrl + L or Ctrl + O
Open a new Location. If you're typing in Website addresses, your hands already have to move to the keyboard. This shortcut keeps you from having to maneuver the cursor to the Address bar to delete the current Web address.
