VA Medical Center, Bay Pines, FL

The new Home, Building 1, housing the hospital, clinical and administrative offices; kitchen; dining hall and power plant; Building 2 (Male Domiciliary Barracks); and Building 5 (the Nurses Quarters), were officially opened, without ceremony, on March 16,1933.

Recreation hall is a large beautiful building, surrounded by a natural
tropical setting of palms and pines. This building houses the picture show,
and also a large canteen. All entertainment of the veterans is handled in
this building. |

This domiciliary barrack is composed of two large buildings which are
completely surrounded by a beautiful palm lined boulevard. The capacity
is 750 beds, and also has a large dining room. PM 1942 |

Situated in a tropical setting, overlooking Boca Ceiga Bay and the Gulf
Beaches, the US Veterans' Home and Hospital is considered one of the most
ideally located and finest in the country. The main hospital and administration
offices shown here are of Mediterranean architecture and are the largest
of a group erected on the 500 acre tract, at a cost of $2,000,000. |

No trip to the Sunshine City is complete without a visit to the Bay Pines
Hospital. The postcard shows the addition to the original building and without
question is one of the finest Veterans Hospitals in the United States -

The United States Veterans' Home and Hospital occupies a site of 500
acres, at Bay Pines heavily wooded with tropical trees and shrubs. The buildings,
constructed at a cost of $1,500,000 are of Mediterranean architecture, the
largest being the main hospital and administration offices five stories
