VISN 6: VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network
The VA Mid-Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) is one of 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) of the Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs. VISN 6 is comprised of eight VA Medical Centers and 18 community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). Over 13,500 clinical and support staff members and more than 4,000 volunteers in our network proudly serve over 318,000 veterans annually across our three-state service area. In Fiscal Year 2008, VISN 6 was rated the best Network in VA on clinical quality performance measures—a tribute to our staff and a confirmation for our patients that they are receiving the very best in quality health care.
Over the next two years, VISN 6 will add one new outpatient clinic in West Virginia along with three new clinics in Virginia, and four additional outpatient sites of care in North Carolina. Thus, in keeping with the VA model of care, VISN 6 will be staffing and managing 24 outpatient clinics by the end of 2010. In addition, the Network will greatly expand outpatient services to veterans in the Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and Fayetteville, NC areas with the development of Health Care Centers in those communities.
Maintaining quality standards, improving access to care, and enhancing patient satisfaction are core goals for VISN 6. Our mission and our passion -- provide safe, efficient, effective, and compassionate care to the men and women we so proudly serve.
